Report from Fit to Work Coalition

A report from the Fit to Work UK Coalition call upon physiotherapists to encourage their patients with musculoskeletal disorders to learn to self-manage their conditions and symptoms better.

Medical staff should question patients about their job retention and return to work policies as part of the patient’s rehabilitation programme, encouraging patients with chronic problems to stay in work. Employers should assist their staff by providing fast access to occupational health & medical services to assist the treatment and management of their conditions and thus remain in work or facilitate a return to work after sickness absence.

We at Physio 23 always question patients about their occupation, role / job responsibilities and tasks and their ability to fulfil their job requirements to ensure that they can return to full or near full function following their course of treatment.

I was recently referred to Physio 23, following my consultation with a neurologist. I was amazed that the physiotherapy has resulted in me being headache free, the first time in months. The treatment I have received was wonderful and each week my condition improved. I can’t recommend Physio 23 enough. My therapist was extremely knowledgeable and has given me so much relief. To be out of awful head pain that I had been suffering with is just wonderful.
