Lifestyle changes of exercise & diet should be tried first

“People at risk of heart disease and strokes should address lifestyle factors such as exercise and diet before resorting to medication therapy”.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guideline recommends that people at high risk of cardio-vascular disease should engage in activity weekly of

  • At least 150 minutes moderate intensity aerobic exercise
  • Or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity aerobic exercise
  • Or a mix of moderate and vigorous aerobic activity.
